Hi,
We are looking at customizing the Search available in the masthead, to make sure it only searches from a particular folder in KM? I can see that predictive searching is enabled and working for this search, but where do we configure predictive searching?
Can this predictive searching be used for other custom search iviews?
Thanks,
Ajay
Hi Ajay,
As far as I know the search box that is part of the Ajax Framework Page, that you show in your image, is only predicting based on the portal roles you are assigned and not actually doing a search. It is actually using the Suggestion API of the LSAPI: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/76/0e025d91394fc3bc4813403e63ea37/frameset.htm
It is a bit misleading I think, it is not doing what you think, but rather depending on what you type it is showing you possible matches from the roles you are assigned in the portal. I guess you could extend/customize this to actually work with a search - are you trying to do something like Google does and show the most popular search terms when someone starts to type?
Hope this helps,
Simon

Hi Simon,
Thanks a lot for that. I believe we will have to use the suggestion api to customize the search to provide suggestions based on specific search terms as mentioned in this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/4e/133ef5ff12001ce10000000a42189c/content.htm
In the meanwhile, how can I assign the default suggestion provider (the one that is being used by the Masthead search to suggest terms) to other KM search iviews created by me?
Thanks,
Ajay
I am not sure how easy this would be, since the suggestion provider is part of the Ajax Framework Page and not really part of KM... this is just a guess but if you could customize the KM Search iView UI to call the LSAPI you might be able to integrate the two... sorry I can't be of more help. Perhaps someone else reading this can shed some light (anyone?)
Thanks.
