Can I use SAP BW modeling tools installed in eclipse neon on SAP HANA Express Edition VM server

Hi all,

I have installed SAP BW modeling tools in eclipse Neon, with HANA and ABAP. I would like to start modeling with the BW modeling tools but I need a connection to the HANA Server.

Can I do BW modeling using the HANA Express edition VM download?

Is there any other free way of connecting BW Modeling tools on a HANA server without using AWS for sandbox practicing?

Please help am stuck.

Hello there.

The EULA for HANA express does not support SAP BW - in fact, we restrict the usage of HXE to exclude SAP Business Suite, S/4 and BW.

My suggestion would be to access the SAP Cloud Appliance Library, which has pre-defined templates for SAP BW, including the required HANA. The Cloud Appliance Library solution would deploy an entire BW environment into AWS for you.

Does the AWS image of BW/4HANA have predefined data in it or Do I have to create BW objects and load them manually?
