Hi,

We have BW Accelerator already installaed and running in production enviornment. Now we are planning to install Business Object Explorer by adding few more blades

I can see there are following three different versions for explorere.

1> SAP Business Object Explorer 4.0 FP3

2> SAP BusinessObjects Explorer (blade) 2.0

3> SAP Business Object EXPLORER PACKAGE 4.0

I am completely lost which one is to use. Can any one explain/suggest which one is to use?

Thanks

Hi Amit,

Please update to Support Pack 04 (after installing FP03). Also, you need to install the BI platform to support the Explorer servers (on a SIA Node). Have you got an existsing BI 4.0 Platform? (the BI Platform installation and configuration will take most of your time, SAP Authentication etc)

A good start for an overview is to check the Master guide for the older Explorer version 3.2, the approach is still the same, except that in BI 4.0 you have now the SAP Integration Kit integrated (it's not a seperate install).

In Explorer 4.0 we have only 1 edition, which includes the connection to BWA - "accelerated".

Hi Denis,

Thanks for you response. This is what my confusion is. I need to install BO explore on one of the blade. so as per your response I should look for document of SAP® BusinessObjects Explorer (blade) 2.0

Can you explain what you mean by "Please update to Support Pack 04 (after installing FP03)"

because if I look for installation guide Explorer (blade) 2.0 and SAP BO Explorer 4.0 FP3 both are completely different.

Thanks

Hi Amit,

In simple terms SAP used to have an "End-to-end" installation guide with Explorer (blade) 2.0 guide, which included the BWA configuration.

In Explorer 4.0 guide you now have just was needs to be done on the Explorer configuration (which is very little) + you need to follow what's in the BWA Technical guide.

I hope this clarifies.

Re: Can you explain what you mean by "Please update to Support Pack 04 (after installing FP03)"

Support Pack 4 is the recommended Patch level by SAP. (You will only have access to FP03 if you are part of the FP03 Ramp-up program).
