Once I have a similar issue with character conversion. My Crystal reports Designer had an Spanish Interface. The BI Platform server was installed in English and the inly language. Crystal Reports was running fine from my laptop CR designer but once I published the CR in the BI Launchpad and run it from there, I got that message with the languages.

Just ensure that your CR Designer has the same language and locale (you can change it in the options) than the server. If they are different, modify the CR in your client and and publish it in the BI Launchpad with the correct language/locale.

If that doesn't solve the problem, try enabling the trace logs for CR Servers in CMC and check the generated logs in default server folder to see more details of the error.

Thanks for all advice.

We had to install oracle 32 bit client and set up some environment variables.

Previously had 64 bit oracle client so now got both.

Sap support engineer advised some parts of BO enterprise use 32 bit and some use 64 bit librarries.

Could you give more details how to change the locale/language of a report.

Thanks

Once you have your CR report opened, please go to View->Preferred Viewing Locale -> Sleect same language of your server.

Refresh the report, check everything is fine and save it again to the platform. Then check again the issue from the BI Launchpad (I supose your IE is also same language you have in the server)That solved me a similar problem I had.

Best regards

Hi Philip,

What's the language of CR client tool you are using? Are the server language and the client language different?

Any rare characters in your prompts?

No.

Simple reports even just 1 column. so no rare characters or prompts,.

English language reports.

What do you mean by server language and client one different.

Could you give mor edetails please.

NLS_LANG on server database is English

Oracle client language is

AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252

However,  WEBI reports aer fine.

Not sure how to change language of oracle client but no mention of UTF.

You can start by checking SAP Note 1575451 which mentions making a simple addition to the System PATH variable.

I also saw a couple of incidents referencing a fix in FP03, which you should already have in place if SP04 is installed.  Can you give this a try and see if it resolves the problem?
