SAP Dashboard component List Builder

Hi All,

I have requirement to select multiple single values/multi selector from prompt. I have used List Builder and source for this component will come from Combo Box(Single value selector/prompt with Insertion Type Filtered Rows). Now I have 2 questions:

1. After I select a value from input prompt Combo Box relevant data is inserted in List Builder Source area. From Source I have dragged and dropped/added selections to Destination of List Builder, than I clicked on Update to show/display data in Pie Chart. Is there any way, changes(additions/deletions to selected source values) in destination data of List builder  automatically updates Pie Chart without clicking "Update" button?

For Example: Source Input values are 1,2,3,4 and I have selected 1,2 as destination values after clicking update button Pie Chart shows data for 1 and 2 values. When I change destination data from 1,2 to 1,3 once again I need to click update button to refresh chart with new data. "So every time I have to click on Update button to refresh chart with latest destination data." I am looking for auto chart update.

2. And also if I switch input prompt value in combo box Source values will change but old destination values in List Builder remains. For example:

Region Combo Box: America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

At first I have selected America so List Builder Source contains American Countries and I have selected or dragged & dropped some countries to destination. Now I have switched input value from America to Europe than Source value updates with European Countries but destination still contains American Countries it doesn't reset or delete old entries.

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated and guarantee of points.

Thanks,

Vaishu

Hi Sara/Abhishek,

Once again thanks for quick response. So there is no other option for multiple selection other than Combo-Box in latest BI4.0 fix pack 3. As List Builder has so many problems; for example Destination values won't refresh after changing input prompt values like either Region/Country prompts, it takes much space and so on. If there is any other option or your valuable inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your valuable time.

Hi Vaishu,

There is one more way to do it using the excel formulas and the hidden selection component.

Please go through this link.

I believe this solves your issue.

Hi Sara/Abhishek,

Thanks for your response and I apologize for delay, because of some technical problems. As my client is on BI4.0 Fix Pack3, which will not support XComponents. So don't have option to use XTree.

Also I have tried using According Menu but it doesn't support multiple selections. As my requirement is on multiple restrictions. So any help will be appreciated. If I am wrong can you please elaborate in detail on how to achieve multi selector using According Menu.

Once again thanks for your inputs.

Vaishu

Hi Vaishu,

I was interpreting it differently, apologies for that.

I understand you need to select multiple options and they need to get refresh every time you make a change. Will it be okay for you to choose multiple selections in a combo box using CTRL key ?

If so, kindly download the add-on from this site and further execute using the same idea as mentioned in my previous post. [http://myxcelsius.com/2010/08/31/multi-select-combo-box-xcelsius/].

Hope I have understood your problem correctly this time.

An accordion menu wont support multiple selections. A multi-combo box as mentioned by abhishek could help, but again make sure it supports your clients version BI4.0 Fix Pack3.

Hi Vaishu,

Here is one way which you can do the above mentioned reporting.

1) Instead of using a List Builder try using Accordian Menu with insertion type as filtered rows.

2) At the destination use a Stacked Column Chart with Enable Hide/Show Chart Series at Run Time enabled[in Appearance -> Layout].

This way user can select various options which you were giving as combo box and then in the Stacked Column Chart they can choose which Series to display and all in run-time.

Hope this solves your problem.

Abhishek

This is the one way of doing it . Suppose the above is my data, the labels of the x-tree ll be the first two columns and the destination is Sheet1!$G$2.

Use a combo box. select the above data for source and your labels for the combo box ll be the column B. in the behavior tab the data insertion ll be labels, in default selection ,map it to the cell Sheet1!$G$2.

But the multiple select may not work with this way.

This is the other way of doing it . Suppose the above is my data, the labels of the x-tree ll be the first two columns and the destination is Sheet1!$G$2:$G$11.

Use this formula, in a cell suppose "M2" , VLOOKUP(G2,$B$2:$C$11,2,FALSE), it ll give u "N/A", now goto next column of the x-tree destination cell(next cell to the destination cell of the x-tree) , use this formula there-> IF(ISERROR(M2)," ",M2), that ll give u the blank cells.

now map your destination of x-tree and the above cells to a spreadsheet table/scorecard/list view and check if the data is populating.

Thanks,

Sara

Hi Vaishu,

You can try using the X-tree (product of Antivia) n use one hidden combo box instead of the list builder component.

Suppose when u select "America" in the combo box the the respective countries in that continent gets populated in the x-tree.  And the the multiple select is possible in there. You just have to check the multiple select check box.

Thanks,

Sara

Hi All,

Anyone have experience on this and if there is any other alternative to List Builder please let me know. As its very urgent and your help is greatly appreciated.

Is there any other way to input multiple prompt selections to Chart other than List Builder? If auto refresh doesn't work.

Thanks,

Vaishu
