Virsa 4.0 and GRC 10 Plug ins on same ECC 6.0 System

Hello GRC Folks,

We are planning to do a VIRSA 4.0 Migration to GRC AC 10.0 version and there are couple of questions, I would like to get clarified.

1. I would like to know if VIRSA 4.0 (which is older version of GRC) can be upgraded along with SAP 4.6c to SAP ECC 6.0? Is it compatible with ECC 6.0 and what are the steps to do the upgradge of VIRSA 4.0 components along with SAP 4.6c to SAP ECC 6.0 upgrade.

2. Can I use VIRSA 4.0 and SAP GRC 10 Plugins on the same ECC 6.0 System? Will there be any performance or compatibility issues. Please share any SAP Note or documentation regarding this if it can be used or if it cannot be used? Any SAP Recommendations regarding this?

3. Can I install SAP GRC 10 Plugins with SAP 4.6c version which has VIRSA 4.0 sitting on it already?

Look forward for the response/comments/documentation/SAP Notes with regards to the above questions ASAP.

Thanks for your help on this.

Hi Malini,

1 - Regarding your first question, you can check the SAP note 989368.

2- You can find information in this SAP note:  865572.

Go to the paragraph which says:

"The successor products for VIRSANH and VIRSAHR after release 530_* are

GRCPINW and GRCPIERP. The release strategy for GRCPINW and GRCPIERP is

described in the notes 1504132 and 1504243. The supported upgrades from

VIRSANH and VIRSAHR to GRCPINW and GRCPIERP can also be found in these

notes. For the upgrade handling in detail please see note 1536525.

Please read the master guides available at

http://service.sap.com/instguides for the product version "SAP GRC

Access Control 10.0" and/or "SAP Process Control 10.0" very carfully

before deciding to upgrade to the successor components GRCPINW and

GRCPIERP."

3 - For this question, please check SAP note 1500168

Hope it helps.

Fernando

Hi Fernando,

Thanks for the response. I would like to seek clarification on below scenario,

1. Whether I can use VIRSA 4.0 and SAP GRC AC 10 Plug in installed on same SAP ECC 6.0 system at the same time. Will there be any conflict if both VIRSA 4.0 and SAP GRC AC 10.0 Plugs are installed on the same system.

While we are working on SAP GRC AC 10.0 Migration from VIRSA to GRC AC 10.0, we want to use VIRSA on ECC 6.0 system. Will I be able to use SAP GRC AC 10.0 Plug ins if the VIRSA 4.0 is already installed on SAP ECC 6.0 system as the ABAP programs cannot be removed once installed.

Please clarify if this is possible and will there be any conflicts if both are installed on the same ECC 6.0 system.

From the notes that you have referred, the above question is still not clarified.

Please help.

Hi Malini,

It is not recommended. Once you decided to Upgrade your GRC, it should be a full transaction.

You might have issues installing both in the same system.

Fernando

Hi Fernando,

Is there any SAP Recommendation regarding this in addition to your recommendation as I need to show it to the Management. Please share if there is any documentation or SAP Note where it says both cannot be on same ECC 6.0 system and what kind of issues come up?

Hi Malini,

Is there any specific reason for keeping an old installation in the same system?

Hi Fernando,

We are having SAP 4.6 with VIRSA on it and we want to migrate VIRSA to GRC AC 10.0 connected to ECC System.

While we are doing the upgrade from 4.6 to ECC 6.0, we want to keep VIRSA on ECC 6.0 and GRC AC 10.0 Plugins on the same system ECC 6.0 system till GRC AC 10 production system has gone live so that till such time we can connect GRC AC 10.0 plug in to SAP GRC Dev system to fetch the risk analysis reports, perform simulation etc from VIRSA.to ensure there is no downtime as SAP ECC 6.0 Upgrade and GRC AC 10.0 cannot go live together as per best practice we need to connect GRC AC 10.0 only after ECC 6.0 has gone live.

Is it possible to have SAP GRC AC 10.0 migration from VIRSA 4.0 go live together with SAP ECC 6.0 Upgrade? What are the steps to ensure the same and have seamless go-live for both?

Best Regards

Hi Malini,

Trust you are doing great. I came across the thread posted by you which talks about co-existence of SAP Virsa and SAP GRC Plgin on same ECC Backend system.

We have the similar issue, since we are upgrading from SAP Virsa to SAP GRC 10.0 SP12 and not sure if the installtion of SAP GRC 10 plugin will keep the SAP Virsa active.

Since you already have come across this situation you must have got the answer either internally or from SAP directly as to what should be the approach for migration from SAP Virsa to SAP GRC 10.0, this will help us decide our cutover strategy to ensure minimal impact.

We are implementing fresh SAP GRC 10.0 for ARA and EAM, however curretly client has SAP Virsa 4.0 running in ECC System. We have to decide the approach to install the SAP GRC Plug-in in ECC System and am looking for some direction on this.

Thanks & Regards,
