Dashboard deisgn- Combo Box using BEx Query Characteristics

Hi All,

I have a Bex Query with data set as week number in columns and Metrics as rows. That is my first data set for a graph.

Now, I need to build a combo box on charactertics "Customer" ? Can I use the same Bex query connection and assign the characteristic and bind that to a fixed set of region in excel. Will that work? I tried and it did not work.

What is the best approach to do this? Does it need to have customer also as data set? That way my results are going to be big and I believe that affect performance.

Please advise.

Thanks

    Hi Sini,

    One approach i follow is,

Put the customer characteristic in the free characteristics in BeX. In the SAP BW Connection dialog box(in Xcelsius), in the right side where u see the cross tab data, u will find all characteristics hierarchy used in that query, expand the customer, u will find VALUE HELP, expand it, u will find key, text etc. Click on text, and map it to the excel anticipating the maximum number of customers you get . Map this excel data to the combo box. hence u can use the same query.

    Thanks,

    Arathy

In the new connection just bring the customers as a flat list. you dont need metrics. Map the result object in the excel(Say A1:A100). Populate a combo box with this data. Pass labels to the parameters in the first connection.

      Thanks,
