BIOD Powered by HANA

Hi All

With regards to the logo "Powered by HANA" - can someone confirm that this only relates to the fact that the HANA database is for volume subscriptions?

Even for the advanced addition, this does not mean that I could move my entire BW estate into the cloud?  As from what I have seen, there is no HANA studio in the cloud?

The options are still to either use a flatfile or a BOBJ query.

Explanations greatly appreciated.

HANA is the database for BIOD Advanced Edition. Advanced Edition is well suited for data sources that are already in the cloud. We use "accelerators" to build it, much like you would see with an SAP "rapid deployment solution" (RDS).  It is not designed to move, for example, an entire BW instance into the cloud. As you have noted, the difficulty is in developing artifacts. Today, the development environment for Advanced Edition is good for making small changes to what the Accelerators have built, but it is not a good choice for running something as complicated as BW.

Hi Carl,

Do all "Advanced Edition" partners now provide the platform based on HANA? When I checked in about 9 months ago, it was only one partner and only in North America. A quick update on the current situation would be much appreciated.

Yes--it is all partners now. I've personally helped on projects with partners in the UK and Singapore this year (as well as NA).
