Equiment Master Data

Hi Experts,

We have custom a field in equipment Master data & accordingly customize same field in Maintenance Item.Now When i create Maintenance item against this equipemnt system is not updated this filed before saving the Maitneance item.Only after saving the value is getting update.Is this is SAP standard Behaviour or we can modify the Enhancement programe so that wheven ever we enter the object in maintenance item it should pick the value accordingly of object master data value
