I believe people have successfully installed some of the Developer / Trial editions of SAP on Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 7 home doesn't provide the required functionality.

Thank you Martin

I finally got the first part installed.  I had to reinstall windows XP on my computer and it worked.  I ran into another problem installing the sapgui. When it starts to install it stops and gives me an error. It says something about

"partner '127.0.0.1:sapdp00' not reached

Error text WSAECONNREFUSED: CONNECTION REFUSED

This usually comes up when connecting to a non existnet or non running SAP System, but first of all, check the services file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Depending on how far the SAP Gui installation went, there should be a set of entries as below...

sapdp00          3200/tcp

...

sapdp99          3299/tcp

sapgw00          3300/tcp

...

sapgw99          3399/tcp

Hi,

I had that problem during my installation of the Trial Release with XP SP3.

Do you have net connection somewhere?

If not, in file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts write 127.0.0.1 --- hostname there, instead of localhost.

Maybe it worked like that

Ok.  How do I find the hostname really not use to working with windsws.

Yes I do have a net connection through wireless.

Martin,

I checked to see if I had those entries and I don't have them.

Domingo,

I have net connection through wireless.

I changed localhost to hostname.

By any chance do you know how to find the hostname, not use to window system?

I tried to attach a screen shot of the error message but the file was too big.
