Hi,I'm getting error while previewing data in Business Layer on HANA Information models through JDBC Connection

Hi,

I want to create Webi Reports on Business Layer which is created on HANA Information models through JDBC connection. I've created Data Foundation and took View table from "_SYS_BIC" schema, but i'm getting error "

Error:

[] <com.businessobjects.dsl.commons.exception.NestedException: SAP DBTech JDBC: [7]: feature not supported: search without group by is not allowed on olap index>

Cause of Error:

SAP DBTech JDBC: [7]: feature not supported: search without group by is not allowed on olap index" while previewing data for that table. Please any one tell me the solution.

Thanks,

Vishali Raghava Raju.

    Hi Vishali,

Did you right-click and manually convert your measures from attributes to measures (with aggregation as SUM?

IDT doesn't automatically recognize measures on its own. It sees all of them as just attribtues. Please try this if you haven't and check data preview. You might have to save, close and relogin after you make this change.

    Thanks,

      Thanks for your screenshots.

You are trying to do a data preview on the Data Foundation in your IDT on the column view (Analytical View) and it throws the same error.

I can't see this working. When you expose that view on IDT, it cannot automatically figure out what the attributes and measures are. It simply treats it as another table and we know it is not a table but actually an OLAP view - this could be a limitation of IDT as of now and probably will be corrected in the future.

The SQL that IDT & HANA generates when you do a data preview are different. HANA knows it's an analytical view and hence automatically puts the group by and aggregation clauses in whereas IDT will not know this. This is why you need to explicitly do this step in your Business Layer and by doing that your Business Layer will generate its SQL accordingly.

      Thanks,

Are you trying to create a report on Analytic view which fires a SQL statement against the Analytic view. If so, please use a group by function for the columns and SUM or appropriate aggregation function for the KFs.

I received a similar error while trying to select data directly from the Analysis view using SELECT statement without the group by clause.

    Ravi

      Hello Ravi,

Can i use a group by function using IDT? if yes , how should id?

      Ex:

"_SYS_BIC"."RETAIL/STOR_CAT_DTLS_FACT"."RGN_NM" is the attribute in analytic view.

In IDT it is failing with OLAP View issue. What should i add to the SQL syntax. Can you advice?
