Hello,
I need to look into the option of accessing BPC cubes through BO 4.0 tools
Which are the connections available?
Is it possible to access directly (seamless)
Please advice
Thanks in advance,
Suyash
Hi Suyash
You will need to provide more information, for example: Do you want to connect WEBI to a BPC cube? Or do you want to create a universe using the IDT tool.
Firstly you will need to implement this AppSet/Environment parameter, it basically allows you to display the EvDescriptions of dimension members as opposed to just there ID values.
Note 1654502 - ODBO_CAPTION_TYPE parameter for P&C 10 for Microsoft
Then you will decide on which connector to use when connecting to BPC cube, do a quick search for the BPC ODBO provider, which should point you in the right direction
Hope this helps
Kind Regards
Daniel

At design time, Xcelsius uses the EPM connector to connect to BPC - you will need to install that in Xcelsius.
Once you have created the SWF file, this will transparently connect to the /XMLA IIS application on the BPC application server when loaded in the browser.
You will need to configure XMLA on the server since it's no longer configured by the BPC setup program as of BPC 10 SP4 patch 02. Please refer to SAP note 1713232 for how to do this.
In any way, Xcelsius doen't use Universes so no need for that.
Stefan
Stefan,
You the man
Thanks for all your directions and I will build on this info
And thanks to Roberto and Daniel for guidance too
Just one question
I am setted up as report user in BPC and i can see the reports from excel with EPM add in
But not from dashboard designer it greys out the open tab and all
I wonder if its a access rights issue?
Or do i need any driver on BPC server its 10.0
Thanks,
Suyash

It may be a rights issue but I can't tell just from the screenshot.
You may also be able to connect the dashboard to a UNX universe which is built on top of BPC10.
See this doument here:

Stefan
It depends how you connect.
If you build the dashboard on top of the universe that will obviously restrict you to connect to the cube.
If you use a repot you need to make sure you are using supported functions as the Xcelsius dashboard only supports certain functions.
This document explains it very well:

Hi Suyash and Stefan,
We are also facing the similar issue, after connecting Xcelsious 4.0 with BPC 10 NW , excel options like "Edit report" and "New report" are greyed out for us.
Could you please let us know the fix you had applied to resolve this issue ?
Thanks

Please find below the list of steps we had performed.
-> Installed EPM add-in (10.0.0.5102 - BPC 10 NW )
-> Installed xcelsius s\w ( dashboards 4.0 Sp02 )
-> SAP EPM Connector and SAP Data Grid add-in's have been added to the xcelsius
-> A Local BW OLE DB provider connection has been created.
Please let me know in case I am misisng on anything.
Hey neha,
You have to make sure XMLA is configured on BPC side
Create a local connection from EPM connection tab.(not the other 2 options)
And make sure you have Admin rights or rights for the environment(cube) you want to connect.
That should be it also click on a new tab in the excel and there you can see the options enabled.
And as Stefan said you can move this thread to BPC Netweaver version.
Thanks,
Suyash
Thanks Stefan for your reply.
I have already created a new thread for this query
Please find below the link for the same
Hi Suyash,
Thanks for your reply.
Do we really need to configure XMLA for the SAP BPC 10 netweaver version ? If yes, then how ?
I have already created a local OLE DB connection for the cube.
You can reply for this on newly created thread:

Thanks
