ChaRM replace virtual system with physical system

Hello,

I am involved in a project for which we are also implementing ChaRM (in addition to the project development). Before the project development begins we need to have ChaRM active so that we can take advantage of its features such as transport management. However, we do not yet have the physical servers to create our QA environment. Right now we have DEV and PRD, plus our Solution Manager system.

I read that changes to the logical components should be avoided after a project has started, so I have pushed back on management's request to start development with a two-system landscape. Basis has suggested building a virtual QA system for now and then replacing it with the physical system once we receive the hardware.

Will this work? Is there any negative impacts to ChaRM if a system is replaced after a project has started?

Thanks,

Shawn

This has become urgent. If anyone is able to answer the question please do. Thanks!

I met a certified Solution Manager consultant who confirmed that this will work, as long as the SID of the virtual system is the same as the physical system.

Using virtual systems, as a placeholder until the physical system is in place, is standard TMS functionality. I wasn't sure if swapping the virtual system with the physical system later would constitute a change to the logical component (it is recommend to avoid changes to logical components).
