Best option to update MSTAE from material

Hi experts,

Which is the best option to update MSTAE field to one specific material? I think that if it's a mass process, best option would be the first, but having only one record to modify the second would be correct.

Could you please tell me the advantatges and disadvantatges of the 2 options?

A - Modifying the field with Bapi BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEREPLICA

B - UPDATE mara SET mstae = <field_value> WHERE matnr = <material_code>
