what is the difference between Control Key PM02 & PM03

Dear PM Gurus,

what is difference between control key PM02 and PM03? in which scenario we can use these two control keys? suppose i want to make Electrical Motor repair, so which type of Control key i have to use? in general most of the times all are using control key as "PM03" by using this we can capture the service cost and we have to create a service entry sheet against to this PO. what is the process if i used PM02 control key?

Please clarify this doubt with proper example.

regards

Jalu

    Hi Jalu,

If you create an operation using control key PM02 a normal goods receipt of the resulting PO will act as the confirmation of the operation, a PM03 requires the creation or selection of a Service Package, this then requires a service entry sheet to Confirm the delivery, Transaction code: ML81N.

If you use a PM02 control key the system will create a free-text PR using the data that you entered.

The process flow is then PR->PO->GR->IR

With a PM03 control key you will see a new Services sub-tab at operation level. Here you can enter multiple services of different UOM.

The process flow is then PR->PO->SES->IR

    PM02

Its like total maintenance given to vendor. Generally, vendor will do the operation by changing the components on their own. Company will not provide any components to vendor.

    PM03

Its like hiring employee for rent & paying the amount based on his work. Here service masters will be created & the same will be assigned to person. He will update the service entry sheet, which will be approved by internal manager. Based on service entry sheet, payment will be done.

    Hi,

Both Control Keys allow external procurement for maintenance, here's the difference:

    PM02:

If you use this, control key, you are procuring work from the vendor (this can be inclusive of the material used for the repair) and does not take into consideration what specific service has been provided. Using this control key, you treat it as a normal PR-PO and receive the service or work via GR or MIGO. The PR/PO created has a blank Item Category.

    PM03:

If you use this control key, you are procuring services from a vendor with specific type of service (via service masters if you maintain it via MM) like pipe laying, re-painting, etc. with this, you can track or analyze what type of service has been procured. The service is received via Service Entry Sheet (SES). The PR/PO created have a "D" Item Category.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jalu,

In Plant Maintenance, Maintenance deals mostly with own maintenance objects or equipments. We have different types of Control Keys such as PM01 for internal equipments (inside the Organization - maint. performed by inhouse technicians), PM02 for external equipments (outside the organization but owned by the organization - Performed by inhouse technicians) and PM03 (maintenance through external manpower through selection / maintenance of service master).

    Examples:

PM01 - Any equipment like oil filter / air filter replacement

PM02 - Oil replacement to DC Generator for BTS station - Mobility

    PM03 - Fabrication work.

    Hope, it helps you !

    Thanks & Regards,
