Changing an Object from Detail to Dimension in Universe for Webi Report

Hi

I am using BO 3.1 with BI 7.1 EHP1

We have a profit Center info Object in BI with Product Levels 1 to 7 as navigational Attributes. I have this info objects in Bex quereis and created universes on top of these. In Each universe the profit Center is the Dimension whilst the Product Levels are Details.

However, in my webi report I need to create a Merge Dimsion on Product Levels (Curerntly Details). So in XI 3.1 in the universe designer I can change the product level details to dimensions in the object properties (see below Screen shot), and therefore create the Merge Dimensions in my report.

Originally in the Object Property this was set to Detail and I changed it to Dimension.

I have the following questions:

1. Are there any implications I need to be aware of by changing an object from a detail to a dimension in the Universe? Would there be any data issues ?

2. How can I do this in BO 4.0? As I understand BO4 uses BICs connection and a virtual universe (ie creates a universe in teh background) but I believe you cannot change the universe like i did in XI 3.1

Thanks very much for your repsonse and the links you have provided.

1. I will certainly do more tests regardging chaning detailt to dimensions.

2. It is most interesting that in FP3 you can now merge on details and not just dimensions. Is there an official SAP FP3 document where I can find this info as I need to present this to the client. I have tried to search but I cannot find and I dont want to present the thread to the client.
