Hi

I have total experience of 18 years , all in a single company .

Out of 18 years , I have domain experience of around 10 years in Production , Material Planning & Logistics area . I have reached the level of Manager in a major IT end user company

I have additional 8 years experience of SAP PP Module in my own company supporting Mfg operations . I have undergone 3 SAP upgrade / roll out projects , working as Team leader for PP , QM , PM Module . I am also looking in PS Module for past one year

Have good knowledge of MM , SD , BI too

As our SAP support is going to be outsourced , I have to relook on my further career

Should I go for

1. Consulting option OR SAP Project management in some other company (My interest in is in consulting)

2. Remain in my current company & opt for other lines of career

Seeing my age / profile / salary (12 L / annum) , what should be ideal / possible for me

    Hello Sandeep,

By looking at your age / profile / salary combination, I would like to suggest you to go for SAP project management.

In today's scenario, companies are looking for process experts rather than SPRO experts.

According to your profile description, you are enriched with business process knowledge that can be utilized in a better way in the role of project manager.

A SAP project manager should have following prerequisite :

    1) Knowledge of Various Business Processes of multiple modules

    2) People Management

    3) Client Interaction/Convincing ability

    4) Ability to give bird's eye view.

    5) Expertise of integration

    6) General awareness of different industries product line

I can figure out from your rich experience, you meet the above criteria.

Hence you can be better PM.

Moreover this designation will go with your seniority & said combination.

You demonstrate what best you have to the market place, companies will definitely hire you.

Its is said that -"Man lives his life by decisions he makes."

Hence make a good decision & all the very best.

    Regards,

    Balaji

    Hi Sandeep,

You can also try for another company where SAP support is required for users on daily basis. Since you have experience in multiple module, it will be a big advantage for you and you can look for such profile.
