If parameter is set in SMICM then does it reflect in RZ10

Hi all,

I have to set parameter icm/server_port_ < n > according to note no: 824554.

I want to know if i change the parameter only in tcode SMICM, will it get changed globally. will that reflect in all the app servers and RZ10. or do i need to change it in RZ10 in all the instance profiles. what in case if i have only 1 instance, then would i need to change in RZ10 or only smicm would be sufficient.

Also will it require restart of the system.

Thanks All in advance!

Hi Priyanshu,

You need to change in each instance profile with application server bounce.

Hi Vishal,

wouldn't change in SMICM will work?we can change the parameters in smicm as well. wouldn't that be effective?
If not then i want to know, when is it that we change parameters from smicm. In our system, we have 2 instances. But our consultants want this parameter to be set only in one instance. Kindly help.

Hello Priya,

Only few parameters which are dynamically switchable can be changed from SMICM T-code. icm/server_port_ < n > parameter is not dynamically switchable.

Change the parameter value in correct instance profile, bounce the server & activate new profiles.
