batch error in MIGO

Hi Gurus,

can anybody throw some ideas on how to resolve this.

We are trying to receive a mateiral from a purchase order via MIGO for 100ea. there are two batches of 50 EA. SO in MIGO screen the receivin clerk clicks on the distribute quantity button and enters 50 and 50 in two different lines and then clicks on adopt and then SAP throws an error that :enter a batch", but in this case SAP is supposed to create a batch on its own. Now the catch here is this error message does not come up in our production environment, but its coming in our test environment. I dont know where to look for hte cause. the steps followed in the test system and production system are exaclty the same.
