AFS: How to reserve unrestricted stock for a particular customer before sales order exists

Former Member

Hi Dears,

I have the following requirement in AFS:

Is there a way to reserve unrestricted stock for a particular customer, in order to guarantee that stock will always be available when the sales order is created and ARun is executed? No other sales order from other customers should be able to allocate the stock that has been previously reserved.

Currently we use transaction /AFS/CSR_STOCK_INIT to transfer unrestricted stock to a user. This way we temporarily "reserve" a quantity of unrestricted stock so it is not available for any order. When the sales order for the desired customer is created, we quickly transfer the stock back to unrestricted and execute ARun for that particular document.

As you can see this process is very limited, because a single user cannot reserve stock for multiple customers. Do you have any recommendations to handle this?

Thanks!

Create inspection lot based on the customer. And keep it in a status of restricted.

Thanks for the reply Murali. However, currently we are not using QM for finished goods so your solution is not possible.

With an inspection lot, you would only be able to release the total lot quantity, not partial quantities. We need to able to be more flexible with this.

Not sure if this is resolved but check if you use contracts for customers if yes then you can create a contract for the customer and allocate the stock to the same and when ever you create the SO you can call of the orders with reference to this contract.. check if this helps.
