process chain problem

Hi All,

We have a process chain in Production system.. and recently, we had a requirement to add an Infopackage to the existing Process chain in Production..

So, we tried to add the Info package in Dev system and then planned it to transport it to Test system and then to Prod system

But there are a couple of steps (Like Save Hierarchy and one ABAP program) which only exists in Production system and Test system... but not in Dev System

We haven't noticed that and added the Infopackage to the Process chain, created TR for Process Chain & IP and moved it to Test System and then found that the above steps were missing after the transport movement in the test system

So what needs to be done to retrieve the old steps(ABAP Program & Save hierarchy) in Test system..

Although we haven't moved this transport to Production, but i would like have your views ASAP about

1. How to make a Transport Request to add "only info package" to the existing Process Chain without disturbing the other steps after the transport in Prod System

2. is there any chance to retrieve the "lost Steps" in Process Chain in Test system, i know we can add the required objects manually in the Process Chain, but i wanted to know, is there any way to retrieve them instead of doing manually

thank you very much for your help in advance

you can't add just one step to a process chain by transport without overwriting the entire chain.

what you should do is get D in line with P, meaning, create the missing steps in D and then transport to T and P overwriting any change made in the target system.

this is the proper way and will avoid any mismatch issue in your production system.

    • unless you have routines (using system relevant info) the selections stay the same. so you need to change the selection criteria in D to match exactly the ones in prod. else you'll overwrite them in prod.

bottom line; you really need to make in D an exact copy of the PC in P. only then add the infopackage that's new. then move the PC across all your systems.
