Report drilldown and skipping multiple screens

I'm currently extending an in-house program which uses ALV to list totals by funded program. We would like to extend the ALV and allow the end-user to drill-down using t-code GD20.

I need to skip the first screen (with Ledger=ZZ) and populate parameters on the search screen and ultimately present the final output report from GD20 to the end-user. I've had success skipping the first screen but this leaves the end-user having to manually populate the search screen which defeats the purpose of automating the drill-down. I've also been able to generate a BDC up to a certain point but cannot present an actual report to the end-user.

I'm interested in the best approach to display this report without having to re-invent the wheel and simply rewrite the entire report.

Thanks very much,

Scott in New York, USA

    Hi Scott,

In order to drill down the existing ALV report with TCODE GD20, you need to use of system fields r_ucomm and rs_selfield so that on double clicking the ALV row , the contents of ITAB which are populated using SHDB are used to populate the relevant screens of GD20.

    CASE r_ucomm.

    WHEN '&IC1'.

    * here itab is nternal table having BDC data and it's type is BDCDATA.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Scott,

I don't know GD20, but what is your issue with the batch input?

    Some thoughts :

    • if you want to display the screen, you have to use the display mode 'E', otherwise it won't display the "last" screen
    • after the GD20's result is displayed, and the user goes back, you may still skip screens automatically via the batch input; the only thing that you must remove from the BDC data is the action on the GD20's result (that will trigger a BDC error; the display mode 'E' will then display the screen, but the batch input may still continue at the next action)

    Dear Scott

    1. With your BDC settings Try with GD13 instead of GD20.

In GD20 - the second screen is not getting recorded it seems....

    Try your recording with GD13.
