Basic Question on SAP Event Management in SAP ERP Logistics - Transportation Vehicle Tracking

Dear Experts,

We are planning to implement ERP ECC 6 SD Transportation Module along with SAP Event Management for shipment/vehicle tracking.

Currently we do have SAP ECC 6.0 Ehp5 system along with SAP Netweaver Portal 7.3 SP07.

The requirement is to track the transportation vehicles from the starting point to the ending point.

We've has not planned to implement SAP SCM, however using SAP ECC 6.0, SAP Event Management module has to be implemented.

Following are the grey areas we would like to un cover before the start.

• How SAP EM has to be installed in SAP ECC 6.0 Ehp5?
  • Installing the Software Component Event Manager (SCM-EM-MGR) would do the job?
• What are the SAP skill set(s) required for developer(s) to work on the implementation?
• There is a scope to implement mobile tracking for the transportation vehicle as well.
• At any given point of time if an issue occurs, exception has to be raised & intimated to the concerned line official.

Hi,

• for the installation please have a look at the note 1320497. You need to install SCEMSRV 701 on SAP ERP 6.0 EhP5
• A developer needs ABAP knowledge and would be a plus if a developer also has knowledge on SD like nowing the tables etc.
• Mobile tracking - there is so far no mobile app available for SAP EM so far. Or do you mean something else?
• If an event is overdue you can set up the system in a way that at this point in time SAP Alert Framework is called. Within this framework it is possible to e.g. send e-mails or SMS. The same is possible when an event occurs.
