Editing Flot for NWP/Activity

Hi,

I created 2 activities 1 and 2; 1 is having FS relation ship with 2.

Now when I enter a date constraint for activity 2 to start 2 days later system automatically creates FLOAT of 2 days between the 2 activities. But I want this float to be ZERO, is there any way to achieve this?? Can i edit float.

I want if i reschedule activity 1 activity 2 should get changed automatically without float getting added, and vice versa, else i should be able to make float to ZERO.?

Thank you

Warm Regards,

Jatinder

Hi Jatinder,

Float basically reflects the time slack in carrying out the activities. And the system determines it based on the relationships,start/end date of the network and the durations of the activites. These are the only parameters that you can proivde to the system. On the basis of scheduling, the system tells you the flexibility/rigidity you have in carrying out the activities.

So in your case if the float is determined as 2 days it is so because there is a relationship between the activities. If you do not want the second activity to result in a change because of the preceeding or succeding activity then make the 2 activities independent. The reason of creating the relationship is that you want to tell the system is that the two activities are related and the change in one would effect the other in terms of scheduling.

Thanks and Regards

Jatinder,

I think you need to understand the concepts of scheduling first. Refer to PMBOK or google on CPM methods.
