Hi All,

When I am trying to add Clint HostName and Instance number on NWDS->Windows->Preferences->SAP AS JAVA, it is giving below popup error massage .

SAP Instance [Host:******,InstanceNr.:**] is currently not reachable. Check that the SAP Instance number is correct.

Its look like router or network issue, but I can able to ping and open the Host name from my machine.

Can anyone please help me or suggest me what would be the issue.

Thanks

Hello,

I face the same problem when I use the Netweaver 7.3EP1 NWDS,

I find the solution by myself,

The problem is when New version NW setting the Sap AS Java.

It requested the username/ password.

but it doesn't popup the dialog and ask you to input.

So It's my way to solved it.

Use sap management console perspective to add the server setting first,

and it will ask the username/password to access the server.

after you set it up .

You will see the SID at Sap AS java .

Hope it will help you.

Howard

Hi,

You have to check it with your network team. They will tell you what port number it is trying to connect when you try to add Clint HostName and Instance number.

Hi Div,

i am facing the same issue.

i have tried accessing the url directly, it is working fine...
we are using 50000 port for this, so the instance number will be: 00
Both BASIS team as well as our Network team has opened the port. but still i'm getting this issue..

can you help me out this problem?

Thanks,

Hi

But I get always "SAP Instance Host:xxxx, InstanceNr.: 01 is currently not reachable. I'm in intranet and without proxy setting in network connection

I believe you have some firewall issues to connect from NWDS to SAP. Or make sure host name , instance number  are correctly using.

Hope this helps!!

Hi Div,

May you please check the below:

1) Telnet hostname port

2) Check logs in Work directory

3) Check logs in Dev_*

4) Perform the activity directly on the server and see

Thanks,

First of all, check if the server is up an running perfectly.

Sometimes hostname do not resolve to right IPs of desktops due to various reasons e.g. incorrent entry in hosts file etc.

Try using the correct IP directly instead of the hostname. Pls take the IP from the Server machine by running ipconfig on command prompt.

Also try opening the WAS home page http://<hostname/IP>:<port>. If this does not work, then NWDS config will also not work.

Hi Amol,

I have checked the host entry, it is correct, and also able to open the http://<hostname/IP>:<port>.

No issue with this.

@ Jun : yes I am using the right instance number.

I am working in my company network, and trying to setup the client NWDS. all router and network settings already done. Dont know what is missing.

Hi Div,

1). Pls confirm that your server is up and running (all nodes green) with your basis or your peer/colleagues.

2). Try using the IP directly in the NWDS configs in place of hostname.

3). Many times old cofigs are cached in the NWDS and are flushed only when you restart your NWDS after closing it.

4). Confirm the instance number with the Basis guy, is any of your colleague able to use the same ?, try replicating the configs if ans is yes.

5). If nothing works, post the screenshot here. That will help finding the root cause.
