HI All,

I have one query & regarding that i just need some explanations & clarifications.

My client is using SAP for one business for that that they are using landscape as suggested by SAP.

Ex:Dev--->Qua.....>Production  (this landscape conatins all function & technical settings made as per current business)

But now they are going implement SAP for their different business(exsiting module FI and new module also FI) owners are different. It is a fresh implemation project & having totally diffrent businees requirements from exsting one.

Now my client is saying will separtae only production server not QUality & Dev server for implemenation but we are suggesting a separate landscape for it.

Please letme know is their any impact and actions need to be performed by BASIS side & is their any effect to systsem.

Please suggest

Thanks

HI Juan,

Thanks for your reply.

Before rasing request to SAP we are exploring and searching the possible options .

As per my knowledge SAP will not allow multiple production clients same i conveyed to my client as well & cleint is asking provide any sap note regarding on this then will discuss with SAP account manager.

Thats why i am seraching and posting thsi question in SDN

Hi,

It purely depends on business requirement.A former client of mine got split up and for 2 years they ran two production clients on the same system before there was a permanent system for the second entity bought by another company.

So it needs to make business sense. Don't forget client will have only client specific customzing and very little such client specific repository (SAP Scripts). Other wise cross client stuff and repository would be same for both the clients i.e same programs, same tables etc.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply Ruchit.

It means I need to create one cleint description role with Production & second client is like test, custom etc .

Does SAP supports such client role (custom, test) in Production server.

What impacts infuture if i use 2 clients in production server ,is their any risks?

Please letme know is thier any pact and actions need to performed by BASIS side.

Please suggest

Hi,

In my opinion it doesn't make any sense and shouldn't be done. Instead have a proper test system.

As of SAP support only they can tell you. No one else can but I am sure they won't like it.

I have never heard anyone taking this kind of an approach. You should have a different landscape for each of your production systems .

1) As you are using same Dev systems for different business needs there will be a possibility that you might over write each others config.

2) There is also a possibility that your developments will conflict .

The only way i can see you can achieve this is that every transport which moves to production system 1 should also be moved to production system 2. This way both systems are clones of each other.

But you are bound to run into development issues.

Amit thanks for your rsponse.

final conculison if we go head with above procedure will face lot of issues (customized developments & ABAP rlated)

Please confirm any thing wrong in my above statement.

It is not mandatory that you will run into issues , but there is a high probability you might.

Again this is just my personal opinion.

You will not face issues with client specific customizing where most of the business scenarios are configured.

The problem may be with client-independent customizing and ABAP developments where you need to be very sure as of any impact of the changes you are making.

Any workbench requests for ABAP developments should be handled properly and only the transports intended for the right prod system should go there.

Its always best to 2 different landscapes in such a scenario.
