After installing the sap SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6 I login with the user SAP * and received the following message:

" R / 3 Release 731 is not supported with this kernel (720)"

Does anyone know what this is?

Hi,

It seems you need kernel 720 EXT. See Note 1591607 - SAP Kernel for SAP_BASIS releases 7.03 and 7.31

Hi

You need only the 720 kernel not 720 EXT .

Hi

can you please explain what you wanted to convey with this note.

"Amit, before installation ehp 6 ecc 6.0, i was installed solution manager 7.1.. The conflict of kernel, because this is??"

Did you by mistake installed a wrong kernel in your SAP ECC system ?

Amit

Amit, this is how I installed the SAP Solution Manager 7.1 and then the sap ecc 6.0 ehp6. But when I login the first time in the sap, it occurred to me the following screen dump:

Shot text:
Database inconsistency: Start Transaction SICK.

Error analysis:
"R / 3 Release 731 is not supported with this kernel (720)."

Details: In my market place, appears only in the number of install solution manager.

You know what might be happening?

thank you

Amit, another question, the sap market place, I only see the number of installation of solution manager, should not appear too installing ECC? See the picture.

Hi Felipe,

go with below

Additional Components" SAP Kernel" SAP KERNEL 64-BIT UNICODE" SAP KERNEL 7.20 EXT 64-BIT UC

select Windows on x64 64bit

download required kernel files

do remember to change kernel in both locations(instance/exe, sys/exe)

Thanks,

Venkat

Hi Felipe,

There is no conflict of kernel. It is not Unix kernel but SAP kernel which is different for every single SAP system you install. So simply forget SOLMAN 7.1 which is NW 7.1.Your ECC EHP6 is NW 7.3 and that need Kernel 7.2 extension  set. Please deploy that.

Venkat, this process also works in ecc 6.0 ehp 6?

Please proceed as venkat suggested. Kernel upgrade procedure is same across ABAP stack systems.

Please make sure to backup your kernel before upgrading.

Ruchit and Amit, did the upgrade by following the steps that Venkat has passed, but now my sap server is not working. It is the color yellow. The process Disp_work is stopped.

When I return the old files, getting back to work with the color green. But the dump persists.

What can I be doing wrong?

Hi Felipe,

Within the kernel there are different patches. Try applying a lower patch. Further for currect path publish dev_w0 and dev_disp logs. But give a **** with lower patches first.

Ruchit, tested with 4 different patchs (88, 90, 120 and 210) and even then the service works. The following screens below:

Do you have another idea?

Hi Felipe,

Can i assume that the above screenshot is for Kernel 720 extension set. Further have you applied only DB specific kernel i.e MS-SQL and not the corresponding DB independent part?

Regards.

Ruchit.

Ruchit, chose this option because my db is mssqlserver. Should I choose the option independent of the db?

Just what I thought 😉 Kernel is composed of both Db specific and Db indepedent parts. Infact the the critical binaries like disp+work are part of DB independent part. You need to download both (same release and pATCH) anduncar them in one single location. And then copy the resultant folder contents (contents) over to kernel directory (overwrite exisiting ones/add new binaries if any). Please check the kernel upgrade documentation. Oncethat is done check disp+work at OS level. It should show 720 Extension with the patch applied.

Ruchit.

Hello,

You should patch the kernel according to Note 19466.

Note 19466 - Downloading SAP kernel patches

Ruchit, I'm downloading the patch a kernel patch level 88 Database independent. Once finished I will try and inform you the result. Thanks for the help so far.

Gaurav, thanks for your reply. In this note shows how to download, but this I already know. The problem is knowing which patch is appropriate for my case. I'll try another one now, will soon publish the result.

Hello,

I know that Note shows how to download the kernel. The point what I wanted to say was that

you should always patch both (dependent & independent part).

SAP recommends to use the latest kernel available on SMP.

I hope this helps. Please let me know the results.

Have a great day !!
