ERP Stack and NW Stack

Hi gurus,

Can anyone tell me the difference between ERP stack and NW stack?  Is ERP stack is for Application and NW stack is for BASIS/ABAP?  We are tying to apply HRSP in our ERP 604 / NW701 system.  In the past when we had 470 enterprise system, we only had to apply BASIS/ABAP when we applied HRSP.  But now, Accoring to note 1425556, it looks like new ERP system requires both ERP and NW Stacks.  I just want to verify if ERP stack is refers to application support packs.  We do not want to apply application support packs when apply HRSP.  Can anyone tell me what's the requirement to apply HRSP?  For our case, we would like to apply HRSP up to 48.  Our current system is ERP 604 SP5 / NW7.01 SP5.  Thanks.

Hi Michael,

For ERP stack , the SP level is mainly depends on eg: SAP_APPL where NW stack is depends on SAP_BASIS.

However, there are some dependancies on HRSP with others application stack. Best way to generate and calculate the stack is via MOPZ.

Cheers,

Hello Michael,

The main component that determines an ERP system is SAP_APPL or SAP_HR and the main component that determines a Netweaver system is SAP_BASIS.

In R/3 4.7 systems you could update only the HRSP (with its prerequisites)
But from EHP4 onwards it is always recommended to update the entire stack
(ERP and NW) as a whole. This will take care of any dependent component or a prerequisite.
Please use Solman and generate the stack via MOPZ for the same.
As you  wish to update to HRSP 48, please select the "Maintainence" option in MOPZ and
select up to stack 9 to do the update. You can do the stack update using SAPehpi.

As per note:   1425556,

       EnhP4                                     Required           Required
  SAP_HR   EA-HR   Available    EnhP4 STACK     NW STACK 7.01

      48           48        10.05.12      9 (03/2011)       8(12/10)

I hope this information helps.

Correct.

Add the system in Solution Manager and calculate the stack through MOPZ. That will give the correct details of all the support packages to be applied.

Thanks,
