Posting Period Variants

Dear Expert,

We have created 3 company code and assinged only one posting period, now after two months of posting, we need to have separate Posting period variant for each company. We can create different posting period variants, but my doubt is that can i change the posting period variant at mid of the year and if yes what will be the impact.

Hi,

In my opinion we can change the posting period variant in the mid-year as it is only used to device whether the posting period is open or not for posting, and such a posting period is determined from the fiscal year variant of the company code. So changing fiscal year variant would be an issue not the posting period variant.

Hello Pranav Dave,

It is possible to change the variant mid year.  The impact that I can think of is that if you were to have to open a closed period from the past and all 3 company codes were involved, you would have to update all three variants to post the changes.  Then close all three when you are finished.

I think you can change the posting period variant in mid of the year, it will not have any impact on transaction data.
