Clarification on EHP 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3

Hi,

Per SAP Note 789220, EHP 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3  have the same ABAP Support Package level and kernel patch level:

SAP Enhancement Package 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and
SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3

It was my understanding that the ABAP support package level designated the NetWeaver EHP level of a system.  Therefore, I would have expected these components to be 703 for SAP Enhancement Package 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

If the ABAP components are the same for EHP 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3, what differentiates these two releases? 

We currently have ERP 6.0 EHP 4 / Netweaver EHP 1.  SAP Note 1637366 indicates that if we download ERP 6.0 EHP 6, the NetWeaver EHP that will be downloaded along with it is EHP 3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NOT EHP 1 for NetWeaver 7.3).  Is this correct? 

I am asking for this clarification because we have seen documentation indicating that the ESR and SLD must be at an equivalent or higher release than a connecting system.  We currently have our ESR and SLD on a NetWeaver CE 7.2 system.  Will there be any compatibility issues if we upgrade our ERP landscape from ERP 6.0 EHP 4 / NW EHP 1 to ERP 6.0 EHP 6 (and the bundled NW EHP)?

Hello,

EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 & EHP1 for SAP Newtweaver 7.3 both are based on the BASIS Release

(SAP_BASIS) 731 . This is why the support package level are same.

As mentioned in the Note 1637366 , yes EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 will be downloaded through Solman as EHP6 for ECC 6.0 is based on the EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0

Thank you for your response.  Yes, I understood that from SAP Note 789220.  My questions are:

1)  If the ABAP components are the same, what differentiates the two releases?

2)  Which NW EHP gets downloaded along with ERP 6.0 EHP 6?

3)  Will there be any compatibility issues between an ESR and SLD on NW CE 7.2 and an ERP 6.0 EHP 6 (and the bundled NW EHP)?

EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 will be downloaded with the EHP6 .

I am trying to find the information for other questions , will update as soon as I get them.
