PA interview question

I have been asked if we can run hiring action and termination action on the same day. I answred, no bec system cant have two employment statusses on the same day so cant run hiring and term action on same day. But I was then I asked If this is what client wants how will u tackle this?

    Hi Avneet,

    The SAP Standard behavior says:

    One can't perform two different action on an employee on the same day (Same Date) without changing his/her employment status.

    The SAP has given us provisions to do under InfoType - 0302 (Additional actions).

    You are half correct in your way, then you must answer him with this provision.

    Any way the above Infotype can't be maintained directly.

    You have replied correctly and technically this is not possible in the SAP system howmuch ever the client wants to do it.

    Dear Professional,

    This scenario is possible through “Additional Actions” info type (0302).You can terminate the Employee on the same day of hiring, even Hiring Date is Time Constraint 1”.

    Please follow this link, which may help you. This document comprises the steps for promotion action on Hiring Date. I have tried with transfer and Termination as well on the hiring date.

    Hi Avneet,

    Two Status changing actions cannot be taken on the same day, hence we cannot do hiring and termination action on the same day.

    How do we tackle this with the client is making him understand the basics. kindly consider the following.

    1. If an employee has to be terminated on the day of hiring. it means the employee works only for a single day. First day is his last day.

    As SAP store data on a day basis i.e., it stores a full day for a single record and it wont split the day. so we cant technically do that.

    To achieve the scenario, as one of the member mentioned, we run the termination action for the next day. which functionally means the employee is no longer with the company from the terminated date.

    Consider this example:

    hire an employee on 01.01.2011 and run a termination action for 02.01.2011.

    Now technically the first day is the last day for the employee and you can observe 01.01.2011 to 01.01.2011 for the hiring action for the employee.

    if you dont want to pay the employee for the day, lock his payroll in the infotype 0003.

    You think from business process perspective.

    Why do the companies go for Hiring and Firing on same day, at the same time SAP also wont support to do these 2 actions on same day related to employment status.

    Hi Avneet,

    Yes , it is possible , two different actions in same day. this is called as Additional action IT0302.

    Say for example - employee hired today with status if active and we can terminate today aslo but the date status should be changed tommrow's date.
