R 4.7 Upgrade to ECC 6.0

Hi All,

I am about to add my R3 4.7 to SLD and then to SMSY of my Solution Manager. I found this note - 584654 - which says that I cannot add R3 4.7 via RZ70. Have any body done this to execute the maintenance optimizer? If yes, how can I do it? Or else, do I add the system in the SLD manually?

I also see that I can download the media files directly from smp. But I guess I dont get a stack file which could be required for the upgrade. Is running Maintenance optimizer mandatory, or can I use the files downloaded via smp for upgrade?

Please help... am stuck here..

    Hi Jason,

    Yes you are correct that automatic SLD data transfer is not available in your release.

    In contrast to the higher releases, the registration is configured manually in Releases 40B

    to 470 (SAP_BASIS 620).

    Once this manual configuration is done in the SLD, then you can get the data in SMSY too.

    And hence use the MOPZ to download the packages and generating the stack xml file.

    Also refer the SLD post-installation guide for your release available at the following link:

    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-8042

    Thanks & Regards,

    Abhishek

    Hi Jason

    Kindly download the 'Upgrade Guide' and go through it. The upgrade guide contains the information whether the Solution Manager system is a must or not for the upgrade to ECC 6.0 .

    You can download the upload guide by following the below steps :

    Go to service.sap.com/instguides

    ==> SAP Business Suit Application

    ==> SAP ERP

    ==> SAP ERP 6.0

    ==> Upgrade

    Regards,

    Gaurav
