EWA automatic generation of word report

Hello all,

Usually when you check your EWA, you don't have an icon with clip.

When you click the Word icon for the first time, it generates the report.

Looks like this:

My question is, is it possible some background job to do that automatically, because it takes time when

you click it.

P.S. I have some doubts that it is possible because Solman sends to your MS Word some blank

template, and then fills in the data with macros. Which means that it relies on the MS Office installation

on your local machine, while the server does not have such resources.....

I found other treads on this topic, but they remain unanswered.....

Kind Regards

ilian

Ilian,

I don't have the answer to your specific question regarding generation of the report, but if you have the EWA's set to e-mail out then you don't have to wait or even log into Solution Manager at all to retrieve them.

Would that fit your requirements?

Josh

Hi Josh,

Yes I already tried that. It works OK, but the EWA report is directly in the mail, it is NOT an attachment as a msword document. I need it in this format, because monthly I send all the reports to the management.

Ilian,

I looked at this some time ago as well at a customer's request and wasn't able to find a standard job or underlying function to use that would generate the MS Word docs as needed.  Have you looked at Service Level Reporting as an alternative? With that you can build customized "EWA style" reports that include information at your discretion for multiple systems.  That way you could save yourself time by creating one document that contained EWA data for all of the systems that you need to report to management on.

Josh

Josh,

I know about that option, but I haven't tried it yet. I will work in that direction. It seems the only solution for now.

Thanks
