First step for Web dynpro Java migration to NW 7.3?

Hello all,

We are about to migrate Webdynpro Java applications to NW 7.3, is it mandatory to migrate the track to NWDS 7.3 containing WDJ applications ? or I can migrate each development component using old track in NWDS 7.0?

Also after migration kindly let me know the steps if any one has undergone the process of migration that would be of great help to me .
