How to maintain left employees data in sap

Hi Experts,

Iam implementing SAP first in my company and client wants me to maintain the left over employee details as well in sap.We are maintaining data from 01.04.2011.? How do i do this?

Can i create an action type Left Employees nd keep the employee status as inactive?

Plz suggest, me briefly.........
