Should a customizing request be released before a workbench request ?

Guys Just a quick question

I have made two transport requests in R/3 for AP BW.

(1) DS3K915597 - Workbench

(2) DS3K915640 - Customizing

My question is should the sequence of transport be (1) then (2).  Or shouhld I release (2) first since it is a customizing request ? Because I think there is a rule that customizing request should be transported before a workbench request.

Would appreiceate a quick clarification.

Thanks

Sameer

Hi Sameer,

There is no such rule as such cust request should be transported first. It all depends on the dependency of the objects contained in the request.

If there is no dependency then sequence doesn't matter.

Hope you are clear.

Hi there,

As mentioned, there is no specific rule and it depends on the contents of the requests. However, In general I prefer to transport first the workbench requests and then the customizing ones.

Short example :

A new customizing table is created -- Request A.

Customizing for this table is being done -- Request B.

With the general rule workbench request first the above situation will be imported without any errors.

I have yet another suggestion. While they are not released yet, assign the customizing request to the workbench request, then you have only one transport to be moved through the landscape instead of two, and the dependencies are being taken care of automatically.

Hi Sameer ,

it all depend on dependency of the Objects in Workbench as well as Customising request.

Suppose for e.g. if we create a generic table e.g. zsales then while creating the table the object are saved in Work Bench request and if we create table mantainence on ZSALES table by SM30 tcode and if we want to add one record in that table then at that time a request is created which is customising.

So if we want to transport the request in Quality then we will transport Structure of the table first (Work Bench Request) and after that we will tarnsport the records entry (Customise Request)

Hi,

If you can transport the request by the right sequence, if you know that, if you don't,  transport all requests together.
