Extended notifications to email for Leave requests with approve/reject links

Hello Gurus,

I am configuring extended notifications so users can approve/reject actions directly via email.

I have been able to configure it for expense approvals, as there are standard user decisions in the workflow.

As the user decision has a task linked to it and the outcomes are present in the standard workflow, it was easy and straight forward.

I want to do something similar for the leave request workflow. Unfortunately there are no user decision steps in it and I do not know which tasks to include in swnadmin. If I want to give the approve/reject option to the user, do I need to customize the workflow for the same or is there something I am missing?

I am using the standard workflow WS12300111 in which the task TS12300097 is linked to multiple outcomes.

Kindly advise.

    Hi Dale,

On a very high level I can tell you how most customers have this set up:

    1. An employee requests Leave in portal via ESS leave Request
    2. The requested absence type is realized by workflow approval (WS12300111) that you mentioned above.
    3. Next, an entry in the Universal Work List of the manager. You will see this task: (TS12300097) under the tab for Tasks, new and in progress.
    4. The manager then can execute the task.

The one thing to be careful and realize here is that these are WebDynpro for Java tasks, so you will need to maintain the object visualization through SWFVISU in the backend system. Also realize that they should go through the dynpro system and if it resides somewhere else you will need to set up another system in the System Landscape on the portal. You will find more information in relation to this here in the help documentation:

The launcher for the UWL that you will need in this case is the SAPWebDynproLauncher.

I hope this gave you some background on this but on a very high level. 😊
