DBConnect datasource not displaying fields

Former Member

Hi experts,

I have a requirement to take data from an Oracle database (Oracle 11g) to BW using DBConnect.
The user used in the definition of the DBConnect source (also referred to as BI User) has
(1) Read access to the required table which is in another schema.
(2) Has a view on this table in its's own schema.
However when I try to create a Datasource on this view, I get no entries in the Proposal and Fields tabs.
Both external database and BW database  --> Oracle 11g.
What is more perlexing is that our Application component has an  existing datasource on the same view
(created about 3-4 years back),the fields tab of which has entries.Iam also able to preview the data in this
datasource.
Kindly advise on how I should proceed so as to successfully load this data to BW using DBConnect.

Hi Kiran,

Thank you for the links.

I had gone through these links, but it still doesnt explain how Iam able to preview data in the old datasource on the same table whereas I cannot get the fields or preview data in the new datasource on the same table.

Both datasources are on the same DBConnect Source system (ie using the same BI User.)

hello,

Grant proper permissions to the user with which you are connecting oracle database. Then you will be able to see the fields in BW datasource. Let me know.

Thanks.

Dear,

Actually, now the BWP and BWD connect the same oracle system ,so they are using the same user to connect. The only difference is that the BWD is BW 7.4 on HANA and the BWP is BW 7.3 on oracle. Is there any other configuration or solution need to do ???

Thanks a lot!

steve
