Hello, We're running Sybase ASA 11 and after a restore from backup we're getting an Authentication Violation when trying to use Sybase central.

the error is "Authentication Violation SQLcode=-98 ODBC 3 state=08001"

does anyone know how to work around this? no one remembers setting up database authentication and no signature file was ever created.

If the error occurs immediately when connecting, it is likely that the database_authentication option has not been set. You will need a non-OEM engine if that is the case. Sybase Central and other SQL Anywhere utilities should be self authenticating so there is not a need to provide the connection_authentication string.

Hi David,

I want to make this problem clear.
Can you be connected to demo.db?

This error attempted to connect to a server that has been authenticated for exclusive use with a specific application.
Does your database need the certification?
