Compatibility of Certificate for AS2 HTTPS connection

Hi Team,

Our system is SAP PI 7.1 and we are connecting to a certain partner via AS2 HTTPS.

Everything seems to be working using the old private key certificate (Certificate A).

Upon updating the receiver communication of this partner which we have set the "SSL Certificate > Private Key for Client Authentication" to the new private key certificate (Certificate B), we are getting failures in the adapter engine with "SSL handshake - Bad Certificate error".

Certificate A (Old private key certificate):

Enhanced Key Usage:

  • Server Authentication
  • Client Authentication

Certificate B (New private key certificate):

Enhanced Key Usage:

  • Server Authentication

Upon checking the certificate, we have noticed that the new certificate has no "Client Authentication" in its Enhanced Key Usage.

Could this be the reason why we are getting SSL handshake - Bad certificate error?

Does it mean that the new certificate is not compatible with HTTPS connection since it doesnt have client authentication?

Thank you and Regards,

Carlo
