Routine for convertining Date

Hi experts,

I have a requirement like converting the date formate let say if the incoming date 01/2012 means The bw report should display as a Jan/2012.

kindly let me know how I can acheive this I do understand we can get this by routine in transformation if any one have idea means pls let me know the coding plz
