Using calculated attributes in hierarchy definition

Hi All,

I'm trying to create a HANA level-hierarchy using calculated attributes, but it does not seem to allow me to do it.  Can anyone confirm whether this is a system limitation or whether there is some way to do this?

Hi,

Yes, you can create a Level Hierarchy with Calc Attribute in Revision 27.I just tried simple one and I could able to see the data in Excel Client as well.

The reason I couldn't do it is because the feature is not available in R26, which is the version I am working on.

Hi Murali,

i need to create Hierarchy ,i have year->month->day->time .

But i have only one table i.e fact table ,

From Analytical view can we create hierarchies?If not, can u suggest me relevant steps to proceed?

Hi

Hierarchy can be created only in attribute view or Calculation View. So you need to use either of the 2.

That's the answer I was expecting, but I was hoping there would be another way....maybe I'll try and find one.  Will let you know if I do.

Btw - do you have any official documentation from SAP that I can reference in regard to this particular limitation?

Hi Ananya,

Thanks for the link.  However I already have the document and have read the sections relating to attribute views, calculated attributes and hierarchies.  Unfortunately I have not found any clarity in the document on whether the use of calculated attributes within a hierarchy is supported.

If I've missed it, please refer me to the page/section where it is covered.
