SAP EP5.0 Upgrade

Hello Everyone,

My company is currently in the process of evaluating our corporate portal at the EP 5.0 level and attempting to find out any drivers that warrant an upgrade to the new platform. I am wondering if/where there is information availiable (or if you could tell me) that outlines any pitfalls that a corporation may face by remaining on the old EP 5.0 platform. Specifically are there any supporting technologies (ITS?) that are being phased out and/or cost benefits of moving to the new portal.

Most of the new business packages are being developed in JAVA, BSP and WebDynpro. ITS is slowly being phased out. Any webdnypro application written in JAVA required WAS 6.4 (EP6 SP4 or higher). EP6 is much more reliable and stable compared to EP5.

Hi Kynan,

One thing you may want to keep in mind is that EP5 goes off support by SAP at the end of September this year (September 30, 2005). Keeping it past than means you are on your own with support issues. But if it is doing the job, why not keep it.
