Adding new dimension to existing appset on transport

Hi,

I need to transport appset to a target system where I've added a new dimension to my appset in the source system. The appset has been transported previously, but not since the new dimension was added.

I know that if you add a new dimension to an application, it takes the top line of master data/member value from the dimension that you're adding and creates all the data with that value. But what happens when you transport an appset with a new dimension in it? (and the new dimension is in the app). On transport, the dimension won’t have any master data.

So do I need to manually create the dimension in the target app first? The system would need to be open for me to do this so I'm sure its not the correct way.

Or am I missing something basic?
