updating of material group on which release strategy is to be applied for PR

Hi ,

We are implementing release strategy on PR and in it there is  step where we have to mention material group on which release strategy should be applied are in thousand so is there any way by which material group can be added in one go .

are u asking to mass upload data in CT04 transaction..?

if so, we also had a similar requirement and we did it with the help of Abaper.

Hope u can ask ur technical team to write a program for the upload of characteristics.

BADI, BAPI, LSMW, IDOC etc... are 1 & same thing conceptually, they just differ technically, all are uploading tool only

Hi,

Why designer chose material group as release character as client have more then thousand of material groups in the business,its better  chose release character document type, puchasing organisation, company code, purchasing group and total PO value(if needed have a Ztable or can chose account assignment catagory as an extra release character )

Release VALUES are manually entered /added to respective release strategy in t.code: CL20N /CL24N or else use BAPI to add Release VALUES  to respective release strategy.Check following SAP notes,how transport shall be done.

86900     Transport of Release strategies (OMGQ,OMGS)

45951     Transporting class data: system / client.

I think what you are looking for is, while activating rel. stgy in CL20N instead  of finding the correct Mat. group by F4 from long list of mat. grp, is there any way to directly activate it in CL20N.

If my understanding is right, than what you should do is, in defining characteristics in CT04, under additional data tick display allowed values. This will list all the possible values maintained in CL20N and you can activate required material group directly.

I tried updating material group using lsmw by tcode se16 table V_161I but getting error at BDC_INSERT, screen .&. is invalid .

if you are asking whether ranges are possible for the char value in release strategy, it is not since the data type  is char.

In LSMW you can also try 'Standard batch/direct input' with

'Object - 0130(Classification)' & Method - 0001 or 0002, Check

Yes with LSMW you may able to do for PR Release strategy w/o classification,

In the case of w/o classification 'Standard batch/direct input'' will not be helpful, Check & Try

this can be done with SM30.

You can as well do a recording (with LSMW too) on this activity and mass load it.
