Hello Gurus,
I have performed the transfer and roll up from ECC to PPM and I also have the USD amount matching up with USD from ECC. But when I set currency to respective local currency using "Currency" drop down on Financial planning screens the local currency from ECC is not matching up when I select the same currency from drop down.
1. How does this currency conversion work within PPM?
2. Can you please let me know where I can define things like exchange rates, or any other settings to ensure the currency drop down works well. I am familiar with OB08 and it is already maintained.
Thanks,
Tarah
Hi,
You can define in PPM config that what are all the different currencies you want see in drop down. I may be wrong but as such there is no object and controlling area currency thing in PPM. The data uploaded from ERP system appears at item level as per the item currency (OR bucket if not changed at item level).
The conversion happens as per the type of exchange rate defines in PPM global settings e.g for 0007 area 0001 as M. Also the settings you have done in ERP system under Integration with Other mySAP.com Components -> SAP Portfolio and Project Management -> Portfolio Management
You need to define currency exchange rates in OB08 as usual.
While converting the financial planning data in PPM its always refers the exchange rate on 1st day of each period.

Thanks a lot!! These are my current settings. The problem is I cannot use the same exchange eate type"M" o other for all the views.
I need for budget/ plan financial views exchange rate "P" and for actual/ committed exchange rate"M". I don't see the way to achieve this.. And I see here a solution if it was possible upload 2 currencies.
Any else has the same requirement as me??
Many thanks!!
Sara,
I did a quick test in an IDES box; it looked to be working.
However my use cases are simple.
(#1) was simple. PS Project with CoCd and COA currencies as USD and PPM Item currency USD as well; during transfer, actual, budget and plan values came thru' as in ECC.
(#2) PPM Item with EUR. Here values came thru as in ECC accompanied by translation (to EUR).
'rpm_fidata' table could be a good place to do investigation!

Also you may want to explore the methods within BAdI '/rpm/fin_cap_plan', if not tried already!
thanks
Mathavan
Thanks all!!
Butmy issue is not related the upload from PS to PPM if not when it is already uploaded to PPM the option to display in the financial view in other currency.
In my case we have a controlling area EUR, with a PS project (CHF) and an item (CHF), when the amount is transfer it is stored in the item in CHF fine.
When we go to the financial planning we see in CHF and it is fine. If now I change to display in EUR it tkes the exchange rate M configured in the master switches.
Our financial views are :
01- Plan
02- Budget
03- Actual
04 - Commitment
......
I cannot use e-rate M for budget or Plan cost..... this is a dialy exchange rate.
The information show in EUR is totally wrong for budget and plan
But if I change the exchange rate and configure P the actual costs and committed costs will be wrong.
We need in the financial view :
01 - Plan: takes e-rate P ( when it is displayed in EUR)
02- Budget;takes e-rate P ( when it is displayed in EUR)
03- Actual takes e-rate M ( when it is displayed in EUR)
04 - Commitment takes e-rate M ( when it is displated in EUR)
.......
I need a e-rate type different by financial view but not when costs are uploaded if not when costs are displayed in other currency.
Any idea, someone else has this problem?
Thanks a lot!!
Hi,
I suppose you are using PPM5.0.
Currency handling is made better in this release. Financial data is stored in both COA (controlling area) and object currencies in PPM, as available in ECC. No currency translation takes place during transfer, if PPM Item currency is one of above two currencies.
If PPM Item currency is different, translation takes place based on COA currency.
thx, Mathavan
