How to find the number of free background work processes in the system

I am writing a Z-program which will manage and trigger multiple background jobs. This has to done from a Z-program due to dynamic nature of splitting the data to be processed across the multiple background jobs.

I am trying to find out a function module/class-method that would return me the current system information w.r.t the number of free background work processes available. This is because, i don't want to submit a job from my z-program if a free background work process is not available.

Please let me know of any FM/Class that i can use to get this information. I would highly appreciate the info.

Note :

I found FM BAPI_XBP_GET_CURR_BP_RESOURCES - however, this FM seems to be written with the intend of being used from an external scheduler. It checks the external scheduler's username and login status (if i bypass these checks in debugging, i get the data i want).

Also, i cannot use the SPBT* FMs because i am not doing parallel ARFC tasks.

Thanks & Regards,
