Change plant in order for main item of BOM with existing customer-material-inforecord

Dears,

I am trying to change the plant of a main item of a BOM in an order. It seems to work when I insert the material and change the plant before entering.

But, the strange thing is, that this doesn't work, if there is existing a customer-material-record (VD51) with a plant. Then the system changes the plant back into the value of the record. So I have no chance to change the plant.

Has anybody an idea how the logic works?

Thank.

Chris

Hi,

If the plant is proposed from CMIR, it is not editable.

Also, I would like to know if you tested for the same material once using CMIR and then without it. If the materials are different, then please check whether the specific material where the plant is greyed out is extended to the other plant also. If the material is not extended for more than one plant, then the delivery plant will be obviously greyed out.

Please check the master data also once to know the situation clear.

The delivering plant populates in the sales order in VA01, and is greyed out. (can not be changed) for TAN etc. But for TANN the delivering plant is in editable mode.

The determination of delivering plant could be from Cust-Mast info record, or from CMR, or from MMR but the "greyed out" characteristic is independent of the "source" from which plant is determined. It is standard functionality.

Also this standard functionality is applicable across type of material i.e. BOM or standard material etc.

Create a sales order with item category TANN and the plant would remain in editable mode.

I donot know why the plant is greyed out. Please compare various item categories in VOV7 with TANN. Create a copy of TANN e.g. ZTNN and put in your BOM material and see if it "keeps" the delivering plant field in editable mode.

Good luck!
