Hi,

We have in our company different areas accessing its Content, every area have their own custom properties and want to have their own KM Search iView, is it possible?

How we can implement this requirement?

Thanks a lot.

Alejandro

I don't know what version of the portal you're using but it shouldn't be too much different from this;

System Admin -> System Config -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface (Set mode to advanced) -> Search Options Set.

Create a new Search Options Set. The parameters are all fairly self explanatory. You are interested in 'Default Search Scope' at this point. Either you can set it to search over an index (or indexes) and name it (them) in 'Search Index IDs' (or in 'Index Groups'). Then you would name here the specific indexes that you should create for each of your groups. For example, you can have an index covering all of the sales groups resources, name it here and this will be the Search Options Set for your sales group etc. Otherwise you can set 'Default Search Scope' to 'Folder', and have each of your groups store their resources under specific folders and name this folder in the 'Root Folder for Search' param. Create one Search Options Set for each of your groups.

Then you will create search iViews for each group. Again you have two options. One, you can create an iView of type com.sap.km.cm.basicsearch, with this iView type the results are displayed in the same window and not in a popup. Setting your Search Options Set he is simple, obvious from the params.

Or you can create from from com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.default, the results from this type of iView are displayed as a popup. It's actualy the ToolArea iView on your portal page, above navigation, below 'Welcome'. You can make sure that 'Collaboration' is switched of if you use this iView. Here to set your Search Options Set you will notice that there are two params called 1)KM Search Advanced Parameters and 2)KM Search Parameters add this;

&SearchPluginName=<YourSearchOptionSetName>&

to each of them.

Have a look at them both.

Then just assign your searchiViews to each group as required. Ofcourse the Search in the ToolArea will still search everything but I don't think that there's a way to alter this for specific groups or roles. Just give each group/role it's own 'Specific Search' page with your nice new search iViews.

I hope it helps, there's also some discussion here

Patrick.

Thanks a lot Patrick.

Your message was very useful.

But, I have another question.

In Search Options there are a section call Predefined Properties, in this area, how can i set these properties for each of my business areas?

Now, another point.

One of my users wants to know, Use of Enterprise Portal bye user, top ten read documents, and stuff like that, my question is if EP 6 counts with this kind of reports or we have to develop them?

Our Portal version is EP6 SP2 Level Patch 27

Best Regards.

Alejandro.
