HI !

Credit check is applicable for document type like Order type , Delivery type & Post goods issue . By which the document type is eligible for credit control .

Same way there is a functionality for item category to activate it for credit control  by a tick to the credit active field.

For your reference you can see it in spro  with below path :-

Document type :- SPRO-> Sales Distribution-> basic function->Credit management/Risk management-> Credit management->Assign sales document & Delivery document.

for Item category :- SPRO-> Sales Distribution-> basic function->Credit management/Risk management-> Credit management/Risk management setting ->Determine Active receiveable per item category .

Hope it ll help you.

Comments are always welcome

Hi Venu,

Check credit limit: In SAP we have an option to configure credit management features for particular customer. As in every business,credit sales are more or less mandatory. When the credit sales exist it is essential to monitor credit risk of particular customer. We can configure two kinds of credit checks. Those are:

(A) Simple credit check

(B) Automatic credit check

Credit active: In documents like quotations or contracts, the value of the document should not be used to calculate against credit management – Because, many quotations can be sent to the customer , but they should not be counted against their credit limit. Use this option in the item category when setting item categories for sales documents that does not require credit. Similarly in a standard sales order, if there is a particular line item type that is not relevant for credit, then this option can be used.

Hi Venu,

Check credit is a field in the document type control data (VOV8) which indicates whether credit check has to happen for document type (For example in case of returns order RE we will not have any credit check hence check credit will be blank)and if yes which type of credit check i.e. simple credit check with warning (A) or error  (B)or delivery block (C) or the automatic credit check(D). So this is a control parameter for credit check at the document type level. If it is automatic credit check (D) then we will assign necessary credit groups in customization.

Actual credit check will happen at item level and is controlled by item category credit active field. If this set active for an item category which is picked in the order, then system will take the netvalue of the line item of the order  and places in the KOMP-CMPRE field which will be further used in the credit updation

Further in a sales document for which check credit is active (Simple /Automatic credit check)  and item category of one of the line items is not active for credit, then system will not consider the net value of that particular line item in credit updation.

Hope this explains.
